Childlike, February 02, 2010.
I have always been amazed by children. Pure, innocent, and unconditional.
I choose to be childlike. NOT CHILDISH. Childlike. I want to smile like a child, laugh like a child, love like a child.
I have always been amazed by children because they have so many questions and yet they don’t overthink. They are not blinded by anger or irritation. Makaaway mo lang yung kalaro mo today, bukas, kalaro mo na ulit. Children forgive easily. Children give chances more generously.
How is it so, that as we grow older and learn more, we become less understanding, less cooperative, less loving? Why is it that as we grow older, and the more we know things, the less giving we become?
Pride, folks. I wish to let go of my selfish pride. I wish to, even just little by little, learn not to dwell on the things that are unfair to me, rather understand that things may not have been done intentionally to hurt me. I say this to people everyday, but to practice what we preach is a sure challenge sometimes.
I strive, each day, to love like a child. Pure, unconditional, forgiving, innocent. Loving like a child, is loving without asking for anything in return, being satisfied, and finding happiness not in what is given to me, but in what I have given.
I want to be childlike.
